Trestle Urges Residents to Exercise Caution and Protect Their Community From COVID-19

As the situation around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, Trestle urges residents to act responsibly and to take precautions to protect themselves, their loved ones, and other community members from illness.  The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) are responding to the global outbreak of Coronavirus.  On a local level, there are State, County, and City agencies working together to provide a range of services to test and treat those with the virus.

In multifamily communities, with shared common spaces and visitors coming and going, there can be an increased risk of infection. Therefore, Trestle urges all community members to take precautions to ensure their health and well-being. According to the CDC, the following symptoms may appear 2 – 14 days after exposure: fever, cough and shortness of breath.

If a resident experiences symptoms, they are encouraged to take the following steps:

• Call their physician immediately and request that they advise of the appropriate next steps;
• Do not touch any common area surfaces, as they may mistakenly transmit the virus to another resident;
• If they find that they do have the Coronavirus, advise Trestle of the status and what actions are being taken. This is a courtesy so Trestle may arrange for common area disinfection services and advise other homeowners. Trestle will only advise the community that someone has the virus and what actions are being taken; the resident's information will not be disclosed. Trestle has the ability to text and auto-call residents, in addition to email, and as such, should be able to quickly advise residents if an illness is found within the community so the residents may take additional precautions.

Additional recommendations of the CDC, the WHO and other authorities, include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol;
• When coughing or sneezing, use a tissue, and then immediately dispose of it in a responsible manner. People should not cough or sneeze into their hands;
• People should avoid touching their mouth, nose, or eyes with their hands;
• If using any equipment in a common area, it should be wiped down thoroughly with a disinfecting wipe before and after use;
• When possible, people should avoid crowded spaces as they may pose a high risk of transmission;
• In public spaces, people are encouraged to maintain a distance from others of at least six feet whenever possible.
